VA – Modernization of ICU Beds

This project consists of the complex construction of a new fifth-floor addition on to an existing three-story operating medical center at the VA Medical Center on University Drive in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rocky Bleier Construction Group, together with its design team partners, Array Healthcare Facilities Solutions (King of Prussia, PA) and H.F. Lenz (consulting engineers, Johnstown, PA) have collaborated on the design and construction of a complex project, including critical lift steel erection, coordination of delivery and lifting of all materials to the rooftop site, design and installation of all mechanical, plumbing and electrical services, concrete work and interior construction in a congested work area above and contiguous to a fully operational medical facility. The project is approximately 80% complete as of March, 2014, and is expected to be complete by July, 2014. This project presented numerous challenges that were addressed by RBCG and its design team partners in a responsible, professional and timely manner throughout the project. Our project managers and superintendent developed an excellent working relationship with the Owner and Owner’s representatives, and the project is being completed with an excellent/no injuries to date safety record.
